Redi Shade contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be interested in testing and reviewing the
Simple Fit shade from Redi Shade
{for FREE}!
Um, HECK YA, I will!
All I had to do was order the shade from their site, install the shade, and then post my personal opinion about the shade on my blog.
I browsed their site and learned about the shade, then placed my order.
Here’s how it looked right out of the box:
It came with the shade, a one-page instruction sheet, and 4 plastic pieces.
I quickly set off to my bathroom to install my new shade.
They say on their site that “the Simple Fit cellular shade can be installed securely in seconds without the need for a drill, screws, or traditional brackets…”
I was thinking, “Ya right. Seconds?” I assumed there must be some catch, or the product must be kinda crappy or something.
I WAS WRONG.
It literally was the EASIEST blinds instillation I’ve ever done (and I’ve installed lots of blinds). AND, believe it or not, they are actually really good quality. I am pleasantly surprised.
This is how easy they are to install:
First off, you don’t even need those 4 plastic pieces. They are extra parts just in case.
Just peel off the stickers on either end of the shade.
Set the shade in the window where you want it…
And then push the “trigger” button on the right end of the shade.
The button releases a spring-loaded bar that literally wedges the shade into place.
Here’s a picture of the shade after I pushed the button:
D.O.N.E.
Besides being so easy to install, they are cordless. You just pull down or push up on the shade.
Now all I need to do is give this toilet room a makeover. Yikes!
They are made of soft honeycomb cellular 100% Non-Woven Polyester fabric that actually “traps cool air, keeping your room warmer in winter”. And they look really nice too.
So, I decided it would be SO FUN to make a super quick video of me installing the Redi Shade.
Well, that was a total disaster!
I was home alone so I enlisted my 8 year old son, Travis, to record me while I installed the shade.
Big MISTAKE.
I was so MAD! But it actually makes for a pretty funny out-take video, so against my better judgment I’m going to show you.
**WARNING** If you are drinking anything, set it down before you watch this video. Otherwise you may be cleaning soda or coffee off your computer.
**Disclaimer** I thought it would be an excellent idea to create my very first video while wearing work-out clothes, no makeup, and my hair a total mess.
Also, I had no idea I had an accent. Wow.
Without further adeau, here’s “Redi Shade Outtake #1″
(I can’t believe I’m showing you guys this. I’m crawling under a rock now.)
~~Just Keepin’ It Real, folks.~~
(I am not a mean mom, I swear)

Hey! I'm Allison Hepworth. Welcome to my blog. I love showing tutorials for cool crafts, DIY projects, renovations, and decorating. My family and I live in Austin, Texas. To find out more or to contact me click

Really cool looking shade and it looks so easy and quick to install. I don’t want to put lots of screws into my windows, wood is old and I’d rather not put more holes in it.
OMG that video is hilarious! His day will come when you can humiliate him in front of girls haha. I would also looove a redi shade!
Awesome looking shades…I’ve always wanted to try the cordless kind. Hopefully I’ll get to soon!
oooh nice shade!
You poor thing! You should know to never let a child have control of the camera!
I love how the Mom in you came out at the end!
I loved seeing you “live” Allison! But there is absolutely NO WAY I would videotape myself without makeup on. That would be scary! I don’t care what the giveaway was!
Of course you have an accent, aren’t ya’ll originally from Texas? Yee Hah! I’ll be there in 9 months!!
Yes this comment meant I wanted a Redi Shade!

Blackout shades in the nursery? Yes, please.
Whoa, these shades look so simple and easy! Ohhhh I want!
http://redishade.com/store/rs_blackout.html I’d also take the black out shades for our Nursery.
All of our nursery furniture is black so it’d match perfectly!
Oooh, I want one. Puh-lease? Pretty please? C’mon…please?!?

(Ok, so I may have just gotten done wheelin’ and dealin’ with my 4 year old about staying up later. It sticks with you for awhile. Sorry!!)
I would love one of these in our kids’ bathroom! It hasn’t had a shade in 7 years.
Pretty butt! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
So fun! I can’t believe how easy they look to install… and cute video!

This would be so awesome for behind my kitchen sink! We live in a rental and I hate to put more holes in the walls(that I have to spackle and paint over when we move). However, my back yard faces a military training area…which I found out one morning as I went to the kitchen only partially dressed to start the coffee and saw a bunch of soliders walking by!! I could really use this shade
And it looks me-proof to install too!
I don’t need just one of these, I need about 23…why did we buy a home with so many windows? My window shades are so old they are literally falling apart!
I think my favorite would be the light blocking shades in Natural. http://redishade.com/store/rs_light_blocking_fabric.html
I would love something that is so easy to install. I also like the fact that it traps cold air so I would probably use it in our bathroom as well.

This style would be perfect for our East facing bedroom windows. I’m glad you reviewed these as I’ve never heard of them before.
oh allison…that video…priceless. what mother hasn’t said (in that same tone!), “you know what”…made my day! and i’ve been looking for something easy to install in my bath…i’m tired of dusting those 2″ wooden blinds! so thanks for the giveaway!
Billy and I are snorting!!!! That’s our Travy! We’d actually love the redi shade. (Don’t actually need it – I think all our windows have shades, but I happen to know people that JUST moved into a new house that would probably really like to have it.
I need a new shade for my dining room window. The current shade came with the house and is NASTY! I soaked it in a tub full of bleach, scrubed it, sprayed it, scrubed some more and it’s still nasty. It just hasn’t been on the top of my priority list to purchase. You understand buying a new house and 100 different projects.
Wow! These shades look a whole lot nicer than my old roller shades which have a mind of their own!
I would love a new room darkening shade for my daughter’s room. The video was good, and I agree with another blogger there is no way I would do that without makeup. Brave woman! Ha!
Just found your blog ,awesome ! I would love to try a set of those blinds ,your fantastic video showing how easy it is like you said ,looks too easy ,but seeing almost has me beleiving now .
I just laughed so loud!!!!!! I hope I didn’t wake anyone up…that video was awesome! Your great…and by no means are you a mean mom! lol That shade it really cool too
I am still laughing!! “pretty butt” Ha!! Kids!!!!!!
That redi shade is cool!! And I am surprised at how easy it is to install. Wow!
Hugs
SueAnn
Hi Alison, omg i laughed at your video…that about sums it up for many of us i think : ) Anyway, the blinds look great! ~Stacey
I need new blinds for most of my house. These are such a clever idea!
Went to their site and loved the fabric arch. My daughter’s bedroom just roasts during the summer and this would be the answer.
Oops, I was supposed to amuse you and I forgot to do that. When your cinematagropher says “Pretty butt” I have to wonder if he’s saying it as a compliment to his subject, or if it’s his commentary on the state of the bathroom….
Most of our house has gorgeous plantation shutters, but we do have just a couple of small windows that have old (metal!) mini blinds that could really use a mini-makeover!
I will not make fun of you and instead applaud you for vlogging! i have yet to figure out how to do it!

Very cool!!! I had no idea you could purchase these for such a reasonable price! I have three south facing windows that are VERY hard to find a window covering for! They are long and not very wide. These would be PERFECT! the added bonus would be the ease! My kids could open and close these which is a whole lot more than I can say for the window coverings I have on their now! (roller blinds that I hate with a passion!)
That wasnt so bad, all I heard from your boy was butt and a giggle, so that would have made me mad to at my girls. Pretty funny!
Iam prior military so I like the American Flag shade.
Wow – those look so cool!
How cool
That would be perfect for my kitchen window
Hello! We completely gutted our bathroom about a year ago, and started redoing everything from scratch. I spent hours online browsing and ordering things to make it look perfect! We got it all done pretty quick except for the window coverings. I couldn’t find any curtains that I liked so I decided I was going to look online and find fabric that I liked and make them myself. Well here it is a year later we still have copy paper taped on the window with duct tape (so You can’t see in) because I “haven’t gotten around to it yet”. So I would say I really need these, and !!!
OH MY!!! I had to play the video 3 times myself ‘cuz I soooo related to you being “thrilled” with your son! *giggle*
Then I had to play it for my kids a few times!! Now my 8 year-old son wants to make a video now too! LOL
lol.. I sooooo had to share your blog and video on my FaceBook… I have quite a few friends with boys around 8, and we have a giggle about things they do and say all the time!
okay, now back to why I’m commenting. I must win this giveaway! wow, I need a new shade for my kitchen window. Something easy to install and easy to lower and raise! Oh yeah, and I need privacy!
hope I win!

ps thanks so much for a good laugh. I’m so glad you were brave enough to show us this video!
Would love one in an upstairs bedroom that faces west – would love the light, but energy savings!
Oh, I think your video is on YouTube now!
Checked out the RediShade website! While I personally prefer plain, boring white – I see they offer fun prints like Happy Birthday!
Hey..we saw you all decked out for AI, so it’s good for you to ‘get real’ for your audience/fan base! We appreciate your humbleness!
That was hilarious!! I can so remember those days, good thing my kids didn’t have video cameras! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for the giveaway. Pick Me!!
Thanks for linking up to the Mad Skills party!

I have been looking for a solution for a window in our kitchen and this would be PERFECT! I loved the video too – it’s nice to know I am not the only Mom who has those “why I outta” moments
I like the snow white cordless light blocking version.
