Fall updates for the front porch
Do you like the new pillows?
I bought them on Friday from Target on clearance for $3.74 each! I’m not sure if they are outdoor pillows or not, but the fabric is pretty thick and my porch is covered, so I’m sure they will be fine.
Unfortunately the Ferrell cats around here have grown accustomed to sleeping on my new bench and pillows (ick!). I’m trying to figure out a humane way to get them to stay away from my porch!
I seriously love Target. I swear, every time I go I find the best deals. I haven’t even shown you half the crap I’ve bought from them lately. Most of the interior end caps have clearance stuff, and also Target seems to hide the clearance in with the regular stuff, so take your time and browse up and down each isle to find the best sales.
So now I’ve got my bench and my pillows for the porch, and I recently scored on a bunch of free pumpkins!
My sister Merideth called me on Friday and said she stopped by a local church pumpkin patch and asked them how much the pumpkins were now that Halloween is over. (She wanted some so she could make some baked pumpkin seeds.)
They told her the pumpkins were FREE! and to please take them!
So in true hoarder fashion (it must run in the family!) she loaded up her car with TEN of them!
She called me on her way to my house and told me she got me 8 free pumpkins “for my blog”.
(Isn’t she the best?!) She kept two pumpkins for baking and the other 8 we loaded onto my porch.
The gourds I already had so I just stuck them out there as well.
Between all the free pumpkins and gourds and my Dollar Store Fall Wreath I’m thinking this porch is finally looking a tad less pathetic.

Was it the one by HEB? I drive by when they were breaking it down. I should have stopped!!
love the colors they give a great pop! i so wish we had a target here
What a great find! I love stripes and the pillows look great with the pumpkins! I’m up in Canada but love going to Target when I’m down in the States.
Wow, that is one rockin pumkin fall porch! It looks like a million bucks, who would of known? Sisters are the best, I couldn’t live without mine, that is for sure. My fall decorating is lame this year, I don’t know if I would even say I have done “decorating fall” more like I have thrown things around here and there and called it fall
What a great sister! The porch looks very Fall Festive! I do like the pillows and for $3.74, if they don’t last until next fall, no big loss! On a side note, try putting out some ammonia to keep the cats away. That’s what we used to do when they’d get in to our trash. I don’t know how that will fit in to your new porch look, but I’m sure you’ll think of something creative
Dunno how well it works, but I’ve heard cats don’t like the smell of mothballs…..we had a feral cat prob and eventually had to call animal control as they were breeding. Good luck!
Your porch looks great with all of those pumpkins, very festive. You certainly have a nice sister! Now I can’t wait to hear how you DISPOSED of all those pumpkins! (Or will that be hubby’s job?)
Here, I looked this up for you:
Repel cats with citrus; oranges, grapefruit, lemons and lime peel. Eat the fruit but keep the peels. Dice the peel into smaller pieces and place in your flowerbeds. Then toss the peel wherever you want, cats detest citrus. Only one problem, you will have to replenish your peels once a week.
Good luck! (hey, maybe you an try spraying your pillows with a Febreeze citrus scent!)
Best,
Gloria

So cute. Wish I could find hot deals like that at Target! I have had a stray cat problem all summer myself. The cat has sprayed my porch constantly. I rinse the porch with vinegar, which gets rid of the smell for about a week.
Love all the pumpkins! What a terrific find!! And your new bench and pillow are fab!!
I have heard that tin foil on the surface keeps cats off…they don’t like the feel or the sound. Just saying! Worth a try
Hugs

Allison, please bear in mind that if you chase off the cats, you could have a worse problem – RODENTS! And they are much more destructive than cats. I live in the country and we keep cats around on purpose. I live near Memphis and a few years ago, the city folk were complaining constantly about the feral cat problem. So the city cleaned that up, and guess what? Now they have a terrible rat problem, and nobody seems to be able to figure out why!
I have our leftover pumpkins sitting out too. The last 3 that we spent all summer growing & weeding! The churches here gave theirs away too. Should have got some…
