Why has Silhouette picked little ol’ me to Sponsor?

Well, for starters, I’m pretty much obsessed with vinyl.

In addition, I’m obsessed with crafting in general.

Silhouette sent me a Silhouette machine and a few accessories to test out and show you guys.

I haven’t made a project yet (it’s coming soon I promise!) but I have been playing around with the machine and the software, and I’ve already cut some vinyl {squeal!!} and so far, I’m in love, love, LOVE.

I took it out of the box and set it up.

I think my desk is too small.

The actual Silhouette machine box came with the Silhouette machine, software for Windows XP/Vista, Power cable, USB cable, 2 Cutting mats (one for thick media, one for thin media), Cutting blade with 3 attachments, and a $10 gift card to the Silhouette Online Store!

I had a little bit of an issue installing the software on my Mac, but in the end my techie Linux and Mac obsessed husband assured me that me having issues with the install was entirely OPERATOR ERROR and had nothing to do with the software OR Silhouette. You have to be smarter than {me} to install this software. AKA, insert disk.Install.Done.

Once the software was installed, I literally just hit the power button on the Silhouette and it just worked.

And the software is easy to navigate too! If you have even the slightest GIMP or Photoshop knowledge, you can pick up this software quickly. It isn’t the same as GIMP or Photoshop, but had similar concepts so I figured it out really quickly.

The coolest thing about this machine is that it doesn’t need cartridges. At.All.

It has a little cutting blade that cuts all your images and fonts.

Depending on what you are cutting, you just swap out these little blade guards that change the thickness of the blade.

And when you want to sketch an image you just pop in the cool Sketch Pens instead of the blade.

To cut, just put your vinyl, cardstock, paper, heat transfer material, tattoo sheet, etc into the machine and click “Send to Silhouette” on your computer. The machine comes to life and goes to town cutting your image.
