The Soap Pump, revisited
Eight months I created this masterpiece.
One of the MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS I get from you guys is,
“How well has your soap pump held up?”
Well, see for yourself!
Here’s my soap pump, eight months and lots of daily abuse later…
A small scratch here
And a little scuff there, but other than that, it’s in excellent condition.
And as for the vinyl?
Absolutely freaking perfect.
For eight months now my poor soap pump gets this on a daily basis:
And yet it’s still perfect.
If you want to make one of these, remember to use black spray paint for plastic as a base coat and then lightly mist it with Oil Rubbed Bronze. I purchased the vinyl from Shelley at Wonderfully Wordy. Unfortunately I don’t have the info about the vinyl, but if you ask Shelley she can hook you up.

Oh wow! Sure wish I was following your blog 8 mths ago! To think of all the silly plastic soap things we’ve been using. Seems like if you splurge and buy a nice soap dispenser, it always breaks in no time (or at least it always does for me!).
Totally gonna do this! Just gotta get me some plastic paint!!
Cute, clever and useful — That’s my kind of craft!
TFS!
It’s funny you posted this. Because just the other day, I was looking at my plain jane Dial Soap pump and thinking, “I need to spruce this up.” Now, I know how to go about doing it. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Totally doing this with a number of bottles! After I get moved into my house. And everything unpacked and settled in. And after I change some of the colors of the rooms. But I will, I swear! By the way, I’m disturbed that I never saw this post when I’m subscribed to your blog. hrm.
I was thinking the same thing! I bought an expensive one and the pumps are just junk. I replaced my “halloween” dispenser’s broken pump with one from my softsoap bottle and that lead me to think, Instead of buying expensive pumps, I will just paint a plastic one –and then I saw this with the how-to instructions and everything!
I was just wondering where I can purchase the oil rubbed bronze?
Thanks!
I get it at Home Depot.
