Piano room makeover, phase 2 How to Hang Box Moulding

The saga continues! Tuesday I showed you my in-progress piano room makeover. My goal is to go from this to this:    Once I finally finished priming the walls (omg that was torture!), I hung some moulding around the windows, hung chair rail, and hung box moulding. I am so excited about the way this room is coming along!!! This project is crazy messy though. I'm knee deep in chaos over here! To hang the chair rail I first needed to figure out what height to hang it at. I finally decided that I liked it at about 32". I created a "jig" type … [Read more...]

Chair art inspired by Andy Warhol

* The updated framed artwork can be found here * Do you remember when I showed you all that crap I got at Goodwill? It was all from Target and was brand-new, but for some crazy reason was being sold at Goodwill. One of the awesome scores were rolls of vinyl for only $.99 a roll! I used one of the phone vinyls to make my Custom Phone Wall Pop Art for my sister for her birthday. Another vinyl pack I got that day was a pack of 4 chairs. I am really trying to enjoy color more around here at Casa de Hepworths, so I decided it would be a lot of fun to make a set of Andy … [Read more...]

Guest Blogger: The Elephant’s Trunk

Hello House of Hepworth readers! I'm Lauren Bird! I am just getting started in the wonderful world of craft blogging and I have to say...I think I'm an addict. That's a good thing right? My addiction began when I was browsing the world wide web for some decorating ideas and stumbled across Allison's genius blog... House of Hepworths. I fell in love with all her ideas, projects, suggestions and almost anything she had to say. I knew I had to try my hand at this craft blogging thing so I started The Elephant's Trunk. Here is a preview of some of the projects I’ve featured o … [Read more...]

It's that time of the week again! Show me the money! Here are some fun ideas from last weeks par-tay! I seriously need to make one of these. Crafts By Amanda made this adorable EAT sign! Susy's Artsy-Craftsy Sitcom hand made this beautiful quilled monogram. See Kat Sew created this pretty clutch. Just Drops In The Bucket has an easy inexpensive way to camouflage ugly plant … [Read more...]

Silver Christmas Tree from terra-cotta pots

Did you see the Christmas Tree I made last week using terra-cotta pots? Please let me introduce Christmas Tree #2! I told you guys I was making a total of THREE Christmas Trees & I don't joke around about my crafts! I made this tree by spray painting the pots silver (instead of green). I also bought some silver acrylic paint and hand-painted silver swirls all over the pots. I didn't want them to be bold, I just wanted a hint or shimmer of swirls, and honestly, I love the outcome! I also bought two sizes of sequins in an aqua color and glued the smaller sequin … [Read more...]

Painting my foyer with DUTCH BOY paint

Dutch Boy Paints emailed me about a month and a half ago and offered to send me four gallons of paint to try and review on my blog. Do *I* want four gallons of FREE paint? Sign me up! They sent me a color deck so I could select my colors. (Image borrowed from A Design Story) Oh my oh my. I don't think I've ever been SO INDECISIVE in my entire life! What room should I paint? What color should I pick? Should I get a few different colors? I hemmed and hawed for at least a week or more. I'm sure Dutch Boy was wondering what on earth they'd gotten themselves into! I … [Read more...]

Installing a paper towel rack under a cabinet

Yes, I'm writing a post about installing a paper towel rack under the cabinet. No, I haven't run out of things to blog about so I'm blogging about mundane chores around the house. ;) This is actually useful to know! Would you believe my own mother hasn't done this yet because she needs her handy-man husband to do it for her? Say wha?? Handy-man husband??? Girls, pull up your big girl panties! You can do these things!! I'm here to show you how easy it is to install a paper towel rack. It really is. You can do it yourself. Trust me. (Famous last words...) Okay, … [Read more...]
