Rock Your Recipes #2 – Guacamole
Welcome to round 2 of
Rock Your Recipes!
On the first Friday of each month I’ll share a recipe with you & then you share a recipe (or two or three) with all of us!
For my 2nd Rock Your Recipes party I’ll teach you how to make…
Homemade Guacamole
Guacamole is so easy to make. I use to be so intimidated by it, but my friend Andrea taught me how easy it really is to make it. And SO much yummier than the store bought stuff.
All you need for yummy homemade Guac is:
2 avocados
lemon juice
2 cloves of garlic, pressed
1/3 onion, finely chopped
1 small tomoato, finely chopped (I use Roma)
I’m getting hungry just thinking about this stuff. It’s addictive.
First thing you need to do is get the avocado out of it’s skin.
Slice it in half length-wise. There’s a seed in the middle so you’ll have to roll your knife around the avocado. Once it’s cut, put each half in either palm, grab it, and twist. One side will pop free of the seed, the other will have the seed still attached.
Now you have to get the seed out. I use a pairing knife and just jab the knife into the seed and twist it. The seed will pop out.
Take a spoon and scoop the avocado out of it’s skin. You are going to mash it up so you don’t have to be dainty about it. Plop the avocado into a bowl.
Take a fork and mash up the avocado a little, but leave it somewhat chunky. Add lemon juice. This isn’t an exact science. I just squirt a little in, and once the guac is done if it needs more I’ll add more. I’d say it’s probably about a teaspoon. Then add your pressed garlic. Mush it around a little with the fork.
Now take your chopped onion and chopped tomato and add it to the mixture. Mix it all up.
You are done!
It’s that easy.
You can use Guacamole for tons of different things. I love it on fajitas or even just with chips.
This sounds crazy, but just trust me on this. My favorite way to eat it is with Baked! Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor.
I don’t know what it is about Baked! Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor, but it is SO GOOD!
I hope you enjoy making your own homemade Guac! Your guests will love you for it.
Here’s a printer friendly version of the recipe:

Yummmmm!!! If the thought of guacamole wasn’t enough…you had to go and tempt me with Baked Doritos! I’m off to the grocery store!
I’m going to bookmark this. You’re going to have so many wonderful recipes soon! Bloggers are the best cooks
Also, your guacamole looks delicious!
Oh, and it’s complete nonsense that they’re charging a fee to use the Linky tools now. I’m hoping they quickly go out of business! Have you noticed that their site has no ads? Umm, yeah, I’d much rather look at a few ads each time than be charged for the service.
That looks sooo yummy! I love me some good quac

I love guac! But I can never make it. I think I always get bad avacados. But next time I’ll try your recipe. Thanks!
I am a native San Diegan living in the Northwest and I can NOT live without my guac!! I love it on everything…especially turkey sandwiches:) (Im hungry now!). Cant wait to see more of your recipes and thanks for hosting the recipe party! I work and cook for a local bistro so it is ALWAYS great to get fresh ideas!
Mmmm… I {LOVE} guac!!! I will definitely have to try the Baked Dorito’s! Give this a try…. add 3-4 oz of cream cheese, some cilantro and salt & pepper! It’s to die for!
Holly guacamole! I love avocados! I could eat an entire bowl of guacamole all by myself no problemo. I love your suggestion of eating them with Baked Doritios. Sounds strange but worth a try!
OH, I’m so sorry…I linked the wrong post here. I don’t know how to delete it to put the correct one up. So sorry!
