Trimming the tree
We love our family tradition of driving to Elgin, TX to chop down our own live Christmas Tree!
As with any plant though, sometimes it needs to be trimmed a little.
Do you think it looked this perfect on it’s own?
We had some branches on the bottom of the tree that were hanging too low and wonky, so I literally
{Trimmed The Tree}
(Did you get as much of a kick out of my pun as I did?)
I took a pair of scissors, snipped a bunch of branches off the bottom, and was left with several branches that smelled wonderful and were very green. I just couldn’t bare to chuck them in the trash.
I put the biggest branches in a glass vase with some water.
(As a side-note, the snowflake is a metal trivet that I leaned up on it’s side.)
For the rest of the branches, I just had small little snippets of pine leftover that were too small to put in a large vase.
I have these cute little votives from last year that I scored at Walgreens (they have the best small nick-nack Holiday decor for cheap!).
I’d been debating how to use these votives this year and I just love thinking outside the box and using them as mini vases instead of candle holders.
Aren’t they just adorable?
I put them in front of the TV on the entertainment center. They are the perfect mini size and don’t block the view of the TV.
The votives are glass and hold water, so the trimmings have stayed nice and fresh so far and they give off a great scent!
Just another way to decorate for free! Use stuff you already have (vases and votives). And also, you can never go wrong with fresh plants.
Have a happy holiday, peeps!

So cute! And with maybe some berries for an extra pop of color?? I may copy you!
You’re always so good at reusing stuff many people would throw away. Nice job!
Adorable! I love the votive-as-a-vase idea! I’ll totally have to try that.
Your tree looks purdy, too!

What a fabulous use of those little trimmings most people would just toss in the bin! Love the wallgreens votives and how you used them as vases! So cute!
