Guest Blogger: This Fresh Fossil

roadtriptext

** I LOVE Chelsea from This Fresh Fossil. Her blog is one of my all time favorites. I encourage you to book-mark it! I personally asked her to come guest blog while I’m on vacation, hence her longer post. She’s a keeper! **

Before I introduce myself, let me just say how totally awesome Allison at HOH is? Whenever I need a laugh or inspiration for a cheap and fun project, I always head over here and am never disappointed! I love her great ideas and projects – like her awesome dollar store wreath (which taught me a valuable lesson: when hot glue gets hot, it melts! Imagine that, right?!), which sadly didn’t work out so well for me, but was a  fun (and cheap) project!

Anyways, I’m Chelsea and I run a blog called This Fresh Fossil where I spill the beans about how we’re transforming our fossil of a house into a fresh home that we love. My trusty sidekick Tom and I both get into lots of shenanigans as we remodel our home DIY-style on the cheap! We’re always up to something – just ask our friends our neighbors (they’re used to it by now!).

We’ve done everything from installing doors and new walls to tiling countertops and backsplashes (and even dug up a buried patio!) and we share the details – both the good and the sometimes unavoidable bad – with you every step of the way. We love trying our hands at something new and aren’t afraid to learn-as-we-go!

Since it would take forever to list all the projects we’ve tackled in our casa thus far, I’m going to take you on a quick house tour – and 99.99% of everything you see was done by yours truly (and you can find more details and how-to’s for everything right here on our blog).

While we love what we’ve done to our house so far, we’ve still got quite aways to go. Our next big project is going to be converting this boring bedroom into a sweet whimsical nursery for our little family member that will be joining us in the Fall!

So for inspiration, tips, tricks, free art, and some laughs, hop on over to This Fresh Fossil – we’d love to see you there!

And thanks so much for hosting us today, Alison! I hope you are enjoying a nice and well deserved break!

xoxo, Allison

RECIPES/FOOD now has a separate link. If you want to link up a recipe, make sure to scroll down to the 2nd inlinkz button instead of the first.

Holy cow, I could NOT narrow down my favorites this week. There were so many excellent posts. It was painful, but I managed to narrow it down to my favorite 12 from last week. In no particular order, here are the links that struck my fancy this week.

The Sunset Lane made this light fixture out of… wait for it… wait for it… picture frames! Holy cow is right! I didn’t believe it myself until I saw the tutorial. Go check it out. It’s so cool.

Learn how to make this beautiful big puffy flower pillow over at Don’t Disturb This Groove.

Check out this fab ottoman makeover by From Gardners to Bergers. Great job!

Suburbs Mama shows you how to make this stylish striped pencil skirt. Now if only I had her figure to rock this skirt in… hmmmm…. Great job on the skirt. I love it!

I am loving these little drawstring pouches from Pink Stitches. I have an illness for cute bags. LOVE them!

Wowzas! Holy Bookshelf staging, batman. The Precious Little Things in Life does a serious number on her bookshelf. If you want to know the proper way to stage a beautiful bookshelf, go see her post!

Me Sew Crazy created these adorable pom poms. My daughter would go nuts over these! I love that they are so fun and bright, yet SO EASY to make. Anyone, even you with the two left hands, can make these.

For the love, PLEASE please go to The Pear Tree Cottage and see her before pics of this living room. They will blow your mind. This room makeover deserves a STANDING OVATION.

Life in Rehab make some knock-off Crate and Barrel candle holders on the cheap, and boy are they cute! Great job.

Learn how to carve a cantaloupe from Suzy’s Artsy-Craftsy Sitcom. This carved fruit is sure to be the hit of the food table.

This. Is. All. Cake. And. Cookies. I’m not joking. How CUTE cute cute are these baskets of “burgers and fries” from Crafty Cupcake Girl’s Baby Shower Creations?!! They are made from cupcakes, icing, and sugar cookies. I am dying. Lurve.

And this shark bite watermelon also by Crafty Cupcake Girl’s Baby Shower Creations?!! OMG, I can’t stand how fun this is. Watch out, Jaws! Crafty Cupcake Girl’s Baby Shower Creations blog is so nice, I had to feature it twice! ;)

If you’ve been featured you are AWESOME so grab a button and tell everyone!

Post about anything you’ve worked on recently!

* Please link back to my blog somewhere on your blog. Buttons can be found HERE or you can just do a written text link.

* Link directly to your specific post, not your blog.

* Please only post links that you haven’t previously posted at one of my parties. We want fresh new content each week.

A few DON’TS:

* Don’t link up your LINK PARTY **unless it’s a craft or tutorial of your own** {It’s just rude to advertise your link party at my link party).
Add your link party HERE if you want free advertising.

* Don’t link up your SHOP, STORE, OR ETSY to my party. This is also rude. Don’t try to sell your stuff at my party.

* Don’t link up your GIVEAWAY to my party. Again, this party is to promote other bloggers and their crafts and projects, not to promote your giveaway.
{Someday Crafts has a great party each Thursday for this!}

By posting to this party you are giving House of Hepworths the right to feature one of your photos.

Here is an EXCELLENT article by Crafterminds about Link Party Etiquette. If you are unsure about Link Party Etiquette I highly recommend you read this article.

Ready. Set. Post!

This party will be open until Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at 10am CST.

Guest Blogger: My Forever House

roadtriplogo2

roadtriptext

Hello there HOH readers! I’m sure missing Allison while she is on vacation, but it has been great to meet so many other wonderful and talented bloggers.

My name is Aubrey and I am a full time mom, substitute teacher and blogger.
I started My Forever House as a way to document all of the projects that we take on, in this, our 5th (and hopefully last!) house as a married couple.
Though I started the blog as a way to document changes we make to the house, it is also where I show off some of my other crafty undertakings.
I was featured this past winter by Allison for my Christmas gift bags from a vinyl shower curtain.

Besides sewing, I am also interested in jewelry making. I spent two years and lots of tears trying to make my own Mother’s bracelet. Even with all of the mistakes, I eventually fashioned my own Mother’s bracelet for a lot less than retail. (I would like to post a tutorial on this in the near future.)

Finally, I am also permanently attached to my camera. My kids are usually my main subject, but when I saw the Architectural Letter photos, I knew I had to have one. I took and edited photos from our neighborhood and created my own Architectural name art, also for a lot less than retail!

As you can see, if I like it, I will try to imitate it. At My Forever House, you can expect anything from home decorating and landscaping to craft projects like the ones above.
Thanks to Allison for letting me show off some of the things that I have been working on lately!

xoxo, Allison
