How Now Orange Cow {dining room painting}

It's been awhile since I updated you on any dining room progress, so I figure it high time we revisit this little purple people eater, er, I mean, this little purple room. When we moved in a little over two years ago, the room looked like this (otherwise known as the Barney Massacare room): If you are new(er) here, you probably are more familier with this version of the room: Now that we've got the pleasantries out of the way, let's talk barn animals. Or rather, huge orange cows, and how they fit in with this dining room with the bird curtains. Back in August I instagram'd … [Read more...]

Hookin Up with HoH #118

I know I've been living under a rock for the past year, but I finally sat down yesterday and watched Downton Abbey. Am I the last person on the planet to be talking about this? I don't know how I feel about the show. I've only seen two episodes so far. Both had me a little bored and checking to see how much time was left, yet when they were over I found myself thinking about the show and looking forward for another episode. Kinda like Napoleon Dynamite I guess. Pretty much the lamest movie of all time, yet I can't seem to stop quoting it and watching it over and over. (Yes, I just … [Read more...]

10 tips for having a killer garage sale

Last Friday MIG welder reviews had a killer garage sale. Almost everything was sold before noon, my kids made more than fifty bucks each, and I raked in several hundred dollars. I'm no garage sale expert, however, now that I've hosted one that was awesome I thought I'd share 10 tips that helped make it a success. Tip #1: To advertise, I ran an ad WITH PHOTOS on Craigslist and I posted on our neighborhood facebook group. To find out if your neighborhood has a facebook group, do a search for your neighborhood on facebook, ask neighbors in your neighborhood, and look through the groups … [Read more...]

Hookin Up with HoH #117

Sorry the post is getting up so late tonight. My son decided to have a teary heartfelt bedtime confessional about a friend bullying him at school. Poor kid. I will always be there for my kids, so unfortch the party goes up late tonight. Crisis adverted though. I talked him off the ledge and he's feeling good about himself again. Laundry room phase 2 + how to run a vent pipe through a shelf

Oh boy am I tired today. Pooped out. In addition to finishing the laundry room, I've decided it would be the perfect time to have a huge garage sale this Friday. Yes, I am insane. I have no boundaries. {If you live anywhere near NW Austin and would like to stop by my garage sale, it will be this Friday at 7am. I am opening it up to friends/blog readers Thursday night from 9-9:30pm so you can shop/snoop early. Please email me for my address. I don't feel comfortable just posting it online.} Anyway, I am so tired. Between tackling this next chapter in the laundry room renovation … [Read more...]

Laundry Room face lift + How to install beadboard

My laundry room and I go way back. We've been through so much together: floods, venting issues, stacking and unstacking the washer and dryer. It seems I just can't make up my mind with the configuration of this poor room. It's plenty big enough to be both a mud room and a laundry room, yet it feels overwhelmingly suffocating at the same time. Several months ago I got sick of the current placement of the washer and dryer, so I bought a stacking kit and a bunch of new hoses and power cords. The appliances were then moved down the wall about 8' and stacked. One thing about … [Read more...]
