Hookin Up with HoH #133

Hi friends! I have been on a mad cleaning and decluttering spree lately. I don't know what's gotten into me, but I LOVE IT. In addition to working on the kids' bath, I cleaned and organized both their rooms (and threw away/donated a ton of crap), I totally organized my office/guest room today, and I even tackled the game room yesterday. I guess I'm ready for Spring so I thought I'd do a little cleaning. Anyone else been bitten by the cleaning and decluttering bug? ** So, are you new here? I throw the Hookin' Up with HoH Party every week to give all of you a chance to find other … [Read more...]

Kids’ bathroom makeover, phase 1: Hanging beadboard and trim

I have been working on the kids' gender-neutral bathroom this week and it is turing out exactly how I have been envisioning it. I am so excited to share the progress with you guys. Last week I showed you the mood board I created for the bathroom. I am so glad that you all liked it! I am pretty good at power tools and crafting and stuff, but the whole "decorating" thing is not really my forte, though I do try. Hearing that you liked my concept convinced me that my collection of stuff wasn't a total train-wreck. :) Here's where I stared from: Before I dive into all the … [Read more...]

The great big plans for the kids’ bathroom overhaul

As promised, I'm back with some exciting updates in our kids' bathroom. I have been putting off redoing their bathroom for two reasons. 1) I had a hard time coming up with a unisex theme that my son and daughter could both enjoy. And 2) (the main reason)... I was dreading going up and down the stairs like twenty billion times. But I sucked it up and have started the great kids' bathroom renovation of 2013. Here's where we are starting from. The bathroom is standard size and shape, except the toilet is across from the sink in this little alcove. I wish it were just next to the tub and … [Read more...]

Last night I made the best Creamy Potato Soup in the history of ever. My friend posted the recipe yesterday and it seemed so easy that I actually jumped up and went and made it. Which means it must have been a hecka easy to make or I wouldn't have done it. I can cook, I just don't like to cook. Seriously you guys, if you like potato soup, GO MAKE THIS SOUP. Like, right now. The only thing I did different is I used 5 fresh cloves of garlic (we like garlic!) pressed instead of the dried garlic. I also cut up some ham lunch meat and added it. Delish. ** So, are you new here? I … [Read more...]

How to replace TOMS (or any shoes) insoles

Well hey my friends! I hope you all had a fantabulous extended weekend. My daughter is obsessed with shoes (who isn't, am I right?!). She has been rockin' a pair of blue glitter TOMS for half a year now, and they have definitely seen better days. The shoes themselves are still in wearable condition, but the leather insoles? Um, no. Not only are they crunchy and disgusting, they S-T-I-N-K to high heaven. Leather and sweaty feet make for some disgusting aroma. Here she is wearing her TOMS last summer. TOMS are definitely not on the Wal-mart-cheap end, so I want her to be … [Read more...]

Move over piano, there’s a new instrument in town.

Monday the 14th (of January) was my son's 11th birthday. I am still in total denial that my adorable little toddler is now 11. He starts 6th grade next year and will get to pick an elective, which he has decided will be Band. He really wants to follow in his daddy's footsteps and be in the marching band in high school (I was in choir). Right now he plays the piano, but his dream is to play the drums and be a part of the drumline in the marching band. You can't really be in the drumline unless you know how to play the drums, so we bought him a drum kit for his birthday. We browsed … [Read more...]
