Let’s talk kitchens. Or more specifically, my kitchen renovation.

The kitchen renovation begins! Can I get a holla?! After months and MONTHS of planning every last detail of a new kitchen, we are ready to pull the trigger. This is only a small sampling of all the hand-drawn layouts I've done in the past 10 months leading up to this renovation. And none of these are even the final drawing either! Before we bought this house, we fell in love with the house, the layout, the 1+ acre property, and many other things. There is one thing we haven't loved though... the kitchen. It is an awkward layout, the breakfast area is too small for a table to fit … [Read more...]

2013 recap – TV segment, AP articles, favorite projects

Hi my friends! Do you remember me? I haven't blogged in several weeks (a first for me!) and I'll admit, it's a little weird to sit down after a few weeks off and write a post. I feel so rusty. I decided to just enjoy the entire season with my family and not stress over getting posts up (a first in 4 years). It was refreshing. First order of business... I am on TV today! Yup, I braved my biggest fear and filmed a short segment on the local Austin Time Warner Cable News for a segment called House Proud. The 2 minute segment is about clearing out your clutter and having a garage sale. You can … [Read more...]

We are weird, but want to be weirder (Dave Ramsey & our total money makeover)

At the beginning of January I did a little 2012 recap and shared some goals for 2013. I wouldn't go as far as to say I created resolutions, but I did touch upon a few big changes we made in 2012 that we want to continue to work on in 2013. One of these big changes is to follow the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover. I've been meaning to expand on all of the points I made in that post (including going Gluten-Free), so for today I'm going to start with our Total Money Makeover experience: where we were, where we are now, and where we are headed in the future. (If you are reading this … [Read more...]

The anti-resolution list

Let's talk resolutions. You know, the big list you make once a year... the infamous New Years Resolutions. I'm not doing it. I refuse to sit down and make a check list of things I should do this year. I mean, seriously! I forget my resolutions list within the first 3 days of making one, so what's the point?! But just for grins and giggles, what resolutions do most people put on their list? What would I put on my list if I actually made one? The very first thing that comes to mind: Lose Weight. Ya, we all want to lose weight. I've been on a "diet" since I was … [Read more...]

Life changes in 2012 and looking forward to 2013

This post is word-heavy, so if you are only wanting pretty pictures, you are forewarned. Can you believe 2012 has come and gone already? It amazes me how slowly the days go by, but how quickly the years do. 2012 has been a year of change, simplification, and reflection for me. I spent a good majority of the year deliberating and figuring out exactly what I want out of this blog. I'm happy to report that I have a clear direction now, and am very happy with my decisions. More on that in a minute though. I say 2012 was a year of change and simplification for me because our family went … [Read more...]

We’re all moved in! Texas House #1 tour

We are HOME! Oh, where to even begin? I was going to show pictures of us actually moving, but now that I'm all moved in I'm not really in the mood anymore to even think about all.that.moving. Plus, I'm sure no one else is interested in looking at pictures of tons of boxes stacked up. ;) So, I'll just start from where I'm currently at... First off, I have acquired TWO Rodney White prints!!! I have been stalking Craigslist the past month for any of Rodney White's work. I found the motorcycle one for $70 (already framed!) and the Moment one for only $25! They aren't … [Read more...]
