2013 recap – TV segment, AP articles, favorite projects

Hi my friends! Do you remember me? I haven't blogged in several weeks (a first for me!) and I'll admit, it's a little weird to sit down after a few weeks off and write a post. I feel so rusty. I decided to just enjoy the entire season with my family and not stress over getting posts up (a first in 4 years). It was refreshing. First order of business... I am on TV today! Yup, I braved my biggest fear and filmed a short segment on the local Austin Time Warner Cable News for a segment called House Proud. The 2 minute segment is about clearing out your clutter and having a garage sale. You can … [Read more...]

Kirkland’s Grand Opening recap + a $100 gift card giveaway!

When I talk about my blog in relation to my life, I always say something is in my "blog life" versus my "real life". I don't do this intentionally, it's just that it isn't very often that these two worlds cross paths. Last Saturday I had the rare opportunity to have these two worlds come together and it was weird. Fun, and awesome, and weird. As I mentioned Friday, I was asked (along with Beth from Free Stylin') to help celebrate the Grand Opening of the Kirkland's store in the Austin area. It was so fun to get to be a part of an event! They had a preview party the night before and several … [Read more...]

I was a guest on the Down & Dirty w/ Frank Fontana radio program

Hey guys! I hope you had a great weekend and an even better start to this week. I didn't intentionally fall off the blogging planet last weekend; it just happened. Sorry 'bout that. So, I've got some pretty exciting news to share. I was on the radio last week! Frank Fontana from the Down & Dirty Radio with Frank Fontana show asked me to be a guest on their live online radio show about all things DIY. (Don't worry, no one is dumb enough to have me on as an "expert". HA! They wanted to talk about a DIY Disaster of mine.) They pretty much wanted to heckle me about the … [Read more...]

Associated Press – HoH is in dozens of newspapers across the country!

Hi everyone! I have an exciting announcement today! Last month the Associated Press ran a story about designing your own bedding. They included my DIY PBTeen knock-off bedding in their article, complete with a photo! Several newspapers across the US and Canada picked up the story and printed it in their local paper. This is the first time my name has ever been in print (in a paper or magazine or anything). I am pretty excited about it. The story is still popping up in local papers, and probably will for a total of 60-90 days. So exciting. To try to track down the dozens … [Read more...]

Whirlwind weekend at GE in Kentucky

This is NOT a sponsored post. I'm writing this of my own accord because I feel like it. I was not asked, paid, or perk'd to write this post. Sunday through Tuesday I was on a whirlwind trip to Louisville (Lul-vul), Kentucky as a guest for GE Appliances. GE Appliances has been developing a strategy for how to get get more deeply involved in social media and the bloggersphere. They invited a small group of bloggers for a luxurious learning, sharing, and cooking opportunity at the GE Monogram Experience Center in Louisville, Kentucky. They titled it the “GE Momsperience!” Me w … [Read more...]
