Party decorating on a small budget || dollar store ideas

Our family recently flew from Denver to Dallas to see our nephew graduate from High School. He was born a month after Ben and I got married. I'm still trying to figure out how he's old enough to graduate?! There was a huge party planned for our nephew and a bunch of his graduating friends to help celebrate the occasion. The party was so cute. Each graduating senior had a table set up just for them, to show them off and share all their accomplishments and hobbies. (There were 11 tables total I believe; and was held in a local church.) My sister-in-law tasked me with decorating the table for … [Read more...]

Last minute Halloween decorating

Follow House of Hepworths on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest! Halloween is right around the corner! Seriously. It's in like 10 days. If you haven't decorated yet, here are a few ideas from my neighbors and myself that make decorating a breeze. We just moved here so I literally just threw out a few decorations and it took me like 3 seconds. Okay first up, we are a Star Wars family, so when I saw these two Star Wars Inflatables at Wal-Mart, I just had to get them. The $30 price tag seemed a lot cheaper than most inflatables so it was a no-brainer. We are officially the nerd family of … [Read more...]

Repurposing old home decor; Wooden Wheatgrass Bowl

One constant love I've had over the past 5 years has been decorating with wheatgrass. I just love the stuff! When decorating with fake wheatgrass, I think it just looks crisp and classic. One of the very first projects I ever blogged about was taking some gross old tins from goodwill, refreshing them with spray paint and vinyl, and adding wheatgrass to them. Wheatgrass Containers In our previous home I had some leftover fake wheatgrass and added it to a simple flower pot found at the dollar store. Easy dollar store wheatgrass tin I went totally bizerk over this wheatgrass … [Read more...]

Silver & Gold holiday candle tutorial

Hey guys! It's Allison here from House of Hepworths. Today I'm going to show you how to make a festive holiday candle. It looks really classy and was so easy to make. Anyone can make this, I promise! To make this silver & gold holiday candle arrangement you will first need to gather your supplies - 3 candles (here are some great flameless options too!), a glass vase or dish, basic river rocks (can be purchased at any local True Value), and gold and silver spray paint. Take your rocks outside and spread them out in two separate piles on a scrap piece of cardboard. Once they are … [Read more...]

I’m calling the guest bathroom DONE. (for now, anyway)

I think it's a first in HoH blogging history, but today I'm officially calling the Guest Bathroom... D-O-N-E. Well, that is until I'm in the mood to swap out the faucet and add moulding around the window. (What's that phrase?... "A woman's work is never done?" This might apply here.) Everyone likes a good old fashioned before and after reveal, so let's start with the hideous 'before' picture. Having a super ugly 'before' photo makes the 'after' that much better. That's why I love that the previous owners of this house had such horrible taste in paint colors. It makes the … [Read more...]

Turn gift bags into {cheap} art

Every summer during my childhood my mom would pack up her daughters, and her best friend would pack up her two girls and we would hit the road for our annual "no boys allowed" beach vacation (they both have only daughters. No sons were left out). The moms we're dubbed (and still to this day are called) "Beach Barbara" and "Beach Lynda". We would stay at a condo for a week, eat all the fresh boiled shrimp we could, and play in the sand and surf from sun up to sun down. Of course, there were plenty of shenanigans going on as well. With 5 girls all within a few years of each other we reeked … [Read more...]

Recreating model home decor {decorative moss rocks}

One of my favorite things to do is browse through model homes. They are chock full of decorating ideas that are usually very appealing to most styles. I have learned so many little tips and tricks about decorating and styling a home simply by walking through model homes and taking lots of photos. In a recent model home crashing I saw the simplest decor that had a big impact. I just had to recreate it the second I got back home. Can you believe it's as simple as a bowl full of faux moss rocks? I saw this simple wooden bowl filled with basic fake moss rocks and just knew it … [Read more...]
