How to hang heavy unlevel artwork easily

In 2011 I made a piece of art that, to this day, is still my favorite art in the house. You guys loved the art so much that I started making and selling them out of my garage. It was quite an undertaking! I made probably 40 of them but it was very time consuming so I shut down shop eventually. Ah, the good ol' days. Well, I'm not here to announce a shop re-opening or anything like that, but I am here to announce that I finally hung the original piece in my new house! Hallelujah for getting art on my walls almost a year after moving in. I hemmed and hawed for months … [Read more...]

IKEA Rast hack using wood shims || AMAZING DRESSER

I am so super excited about todays post! I haven't dug in and done a real project in quite awhile (unless painting every room in my house counts!). Finally I dug deep and created a project I am super excited about! Just when you thought you had seen every single Rast hack on planet earth, I have come up with one that I've never seen before! I am smitten with my Rast hack and love it so much I think I'm going to make a 2nd one so I have a pair! Isn't it beautiful?! I started with a basic $34.99 IKEA Rast dresser and transformed it into this grid shim weathered oak beauty. I pulled … [Read more...]

Repurposing old home decor; Wooden Wheatgrass Bowl

One constant love I've had over the past 5 years has been decorating with wheatgrass. I just love the stuff! When decorating with fake wheatgrass, I think it just looks crisp and classic. One of the very first projects I ever blogged about was taking some gross old tins from goodwill, refreshing them with spray paint and vinyl, and adding wheatgrass to them. Wheatgrass Containers In our previous home I had some leftover fake wheatgrass and added it to a simple flower pot found at the dollar store. Easy dollar store wheatgrass tin I went totally bizerk over this wheatgrass … [Read more...]

I Am My Beloved’s custom artwork sign

So, ya, I made another sign. It wasn't for me though. A friend asked me if I could replicate some art she found on pinterest. I had her send it to me and decided I'd take a stab at it. Here is the original art she sent me: It's from a blog called My *PINK* Life. Isn't it such a pretty piece of art? Well, here's how mine turned out. My friend chose teal paint for the lettering instead of black. She also changed the reference from "Song of Songs" to "Song of Solomon". I think it's a pretty good replication if you ask me. We were both happy with it at least. My friend came … [Read more...]

Totally awesome HUGE mirror made from shims (DIY mirror project)

How many projects have you pinned and actually followed through and finished? I can probably count on one hand how many projects on my Pinterest to-do list I've actually done. Well I'm here to report I actually followed through and made a project I pinned on pinterest. I am as shocked as you. My friend Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating made the most awesome mirror almost TWO years ago. And almost two years ago I pinned that sucker so quick. I just had to make one. It only took almost two years, but I've made the mirror and I'm thrilled to bits about it. Here's my HUGE 4-foot in diameter … [Read more...]
