Are you ready for more IKEA kitchen posts? I’m determined to finish this kitchen once and for all! Today I’m back to share all about our kitchen hardware - where we purchased it and the best way to install it. Our hardware is from IKEA (surprise, surprise!). It also comes in two lengths; 5 5/8" and 13 3/16". I love love LOVE this hardware. I still can’t believe it’s from IKEA. They have come a long way in thei … [Read more...]

Thrift store BAR CART turned piano music SHELF

Hey guys! I love finding cool stuff for cheap at the thrift store that I can makeover. I feel like the past few years thrifting has become so trendy that the prices have skyrocketed, so I haven't purchased a bunch of stuff like I used to years ago when I first started this blog. I totally lucked out recently though when I found a cool rattan bar cart at a thrift store for only $10! I haven't seen a piece of furniture priced that low in a long, long time. Of course I snatched it right up, not even knowing what I'd use it for. I ended up painting it entire bar cart and use it now … [Read more...]

The piano bench gets new hinges and a make-under

Hi friends! I hope you are having a fabulous summer. We've been so busy this summer, and I just realized school starts in less than 4 weeks. I'm kinda sad about it. It's so fun having my kids around all day, and also not having to follow a strict schedule. Last year we bought a piano. It has pretty much become the staple item in our house. We all play, and all of my son's drumline friends play, so it gets used daily as a minimum. I also added a new layer of fabric to the bench: Most of you liked the new fabric, but a few of you commented that it was gross that I didn't … [Read more...]

New Piano! FINALLY! + how to cover a piano bench with fabric

Well, we finally did it. We finally got ourselves a new piano. Well, new to us! When we moved from Texas to Colorado last year we couldn't take our beloved piano with us. I know, we have the serious sads over it. Apparently it is very bad to take an antique piano that has lived its entire life (built in 1904!) in a humid climate like Texas to the dry climate like Colorado. It's definitely an antique, and was passed down to me from my grandparents. When we moved we gave the piano to my sister which is actually quite fitting because she named her little daughter after said grandma. … [Read more...]

Canned Goods Storage

We are in the process of upgrading our dated and not-so-functional pantry. The old, rusted wire shelving has been replaced with wooden shelves in a more user-friendly layout. Instead of wrapping the shelving around the entire pantry we opted to leave the back wall open and create a narrow canned goods shelving system instead. Not only does the shelf hold a ton of cans, it also makes it extremely easy to find exactly what I'm looking for. Another great feature is that it has a very narrow profile - sticking out from the wall only 3.5"! This leaves the entire room feeling bigger and more … [Read more...]

How to make a Magnetic Frame to display artwork

(I was one of the bloggers selected by True Value to work on the DIY Squad. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program as well as writing about my experience. I have also been compensated for the materials needed for my DIY project. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.) My daughter LOVES to draw and is very crafty. We have artwork all over our fridge and taped to the walls. I made her a magnetic frame for her to display all her artwork, photos, notes, and cards. It looks a lot classier on a magnetic frame instead … [Read more...]

Every day I’m shuffling

Hi! Before I get to today's post I have two quick things: 1) Today is Ben and my 15 year anniversary!! Holy cow. That's like a milestone or something. We were young and stupidly in love when we got married (I wasn't even 19 yet!), but it was the best decision we have ever made. I can't imagine my life without my partner in crime. Happy Anniversary, babe. Engaged and now:    2) Thanks for all the feedback on my last post! I am going to try to blog more, but with less content per post. I like touching base with you more frequently, so thank you for your opinions. I'm a week … [Read more...]
