New Piano! FINALLY! + how to cover a piano bench with fabric

Well, we finally did it. We finally got ourselves a new piano. Well, new to us! When we moved from Texas to Colorado last year we couldn't take our beloved piano with us. I know, we have the serious sads over it. Apparently it is very bad to take an antique piano that has lived its entire life (built in 1904!) in a humid climate like Texas to the dry climate like Colorado. It's definitely an antique, and was passed down to me from my grandparents. When we moved we gave the piano to my sister which is actually quite fitting because she named her little daughter after said grandma. … [Read more...]

How to make a Magnetic Frame to display artwork

(I was one of the bloggers selected by True Value to work on the DIY Squad. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program as well as writing about my experience. I have also been compensated for the materials needed for my DIY project. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.) My daughter LOVES to draw and is very crafty. We have artwork all over our fridge and taped to the walls. I made her a magnetic frame for her to display all her artwork, photos, notes, and cards. It looks a lot classier on a magnetic frame instead … [Read more...]

Every day I’m shuffling

Hi! Before I get to today's post I have two quick things: 1) Today is Ben and my 15 year anniversary!! Holy cow. That's like a milestone or something. We were young and stupidly in love when we got married (I wasn't even 19 yet!), but it was the best decision we have ever made. I can't imagine my life without my partner in crime. Happy Anniversary, babe. Engaged and now:    2) Thanks for all the feedback on my last post! I am going to try to blog more, but with less content per post. I like touching base with you more frequently, so thank you for your opinions. I'm a week … [Read more...]

The thrifted shelf

Hi guys! {Squeal} I am so excited to finally be back here with you again. As I said in my last post, we have had a rough go around here with lots of illness. In the end, all 4 of us have now been sicker than a dawg, but fortunately the kids are well now, and Ben and I are on the upswing. I went to the doctor today because I have horrible congestion in my chest, and she said I have bronchitis. She said I have it so bad that it sounds like tuberculous. Yikes. I should be just fine now though because she sent me home with some meds that should kick this bronchitis crap to the curb. … [Read more...]

Fixing a damaged bed + a few random spray painting tips

Back in March I ordered new beds for both of my chicklets. In the shipping process several pieces of the beds were damaged. I was frustrated but the company fixed the situation and sent out new pieces. *You asked, I edited! The bed is from Hayneedle. All bed info can be found here or here. They told me to just throw away the damaged pieces. It would cost more money to send them back than was worth it. What I was left with was a complete set of damaged and mismatched pieces that, when combined, created another bed. Instead of tossing them out I saved them with the intention … [Read more...]

Labeling & organizing massive amounts of Legos

Well hello hello! Things have been cray-cray around here! I have been doing stuff around the ol' hood, but mostly I've been trying to soak up the last few weeks of kid action before they head back to school... which they did, Monday. sniff. I love having them home, but I'll admit, it is time. It's been two days and I've already got the house totally torn apart with projects! The first of many is to get some labels on the Lego Organization System I set up in my son's room. {Lego Organization} Remember that post? About a month ago I showed these cool storage units I found over … [Read more...]

A new toy for the game room

Well, he finally did it. Ben finally bought a toy he's been talking about buying for years. Yup. A foosball table. Awesome. (Can you feel the sarcasm dripping from my voice?) Say hello to Godfrey and Bartholomew, our Foosball forwards on Team Yellow. They even have little faces on them. Ben has been pining away for a "professional foosball table, not a cheap crappy one" (his words, not mine) for geeze, like 10 years? His old company had one in their break room so he got pretty good at schooling people. So anyway, he's been saving up any extra money he gets and … [Read more...]
