Huge Nutcrackers for your porch

Happy Holidays my friends! As you've probably figured out already, I love nutcrackers, especially brightly painted ones! I found some pretty ugly huge plaster nutcrackers at Home Depot on sale for black friday and just had to pounce on them. Of course, I couldn't display them as-is; I had to paint them first. Check out this post for a step-by-step of the process. Here's the original nutcrackers I bought. I actually bought one at first, but then I ran back to Home Depot and picked up a 2nd one. They were only $19.98! Seriously. They are HEAVY and are plaster. These guys aren't … [Read more...]

updated MARQUEE STAR – from ugly to dazzling!

I have another holiday project to share with you today! I found a big marquee star at Target a few months back in the clearance section, and as you can see, I updated it from boring blah gold to shiny and shimmery teal! It's just perfect for the holidays. … [Read more...]

Last minute Halloween decorating

Follow House of Hepworths on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest! Halloween is right around the corner! Seriously. It's in like 10 days. If you haven't decorated yet, here are a few ideas from my neighbors and myself that make decorating a breeze. We just moved here so I literally just threw out a few decorations and it took me like 3 seconds. Okay first up, we are a Star Wars family, so when I saw these two Star Wars Inflatables at Wal-Mart, I just had to get them. The $30 price tag seemed a lot cheaper than most inflatables so it was a no-brainer. We are officially the nerd family of … [Read more...]

The much anticipated anticlimactic HoH house tour. Be prepared to be underwhelmed.

Well hello there! As promised in my Christmas decor rant post, here are my holiday decorations this year. I have gone very minimal this year, but the lights are actually hung on the house and the tree is up, with ornaments, so I'm calling it a success. Let's start outside, shall we? I took all my dollar store wreaths from two years ago and hung them on all the front windows. I actually really love the simple green wreath with the red bow. I found this swag at Target for our front door. It isn't quite as pretty as I could have crafted myself, but I could have never made it for the … [Read more...]

Confessions of Christmas 2012

Once again, Christmas is almost here, and I have done a terrible job creating that magical environment that my children will look back on fondly. Oh well. I guess I'll never have that picture-perfect Pinterest house and Pinterest family. As a blogger who thoroughly enjoys keeping it as real as possible (in an attempt to prove that not all bloggers have a perfect life), here are a few Christmas confessions. Confession #1: I used double-sided tape to hang all our holiday cards... on the side of a kitchen cabinet and the wall. I used my mini nutcrackers as Christmas Tree … [Read more...]

Entry table gets Christmas-ified

We're in the final stetch before Christmas and I'm determined to get every.single.last.Christmas-related-post. up before the 25th. I think I can do it! I've been tweaking my new entry table trying to get a cute setup on it. When I first showed it to you guys it looked like this: empty and ready for filling! It then morphed into this hodge-podge of random Christmas stuff. After that I hit IKEA and found this black table runner for $5. I LOVE the table runner. It really brings everything together and anchors it. Finally I completed my glitter frame and … [Read more...]

Confessions of Christmas

I have a few confessions to make. Confession #1: I label all my Christmas gifts with a SHARPIE. I know, it's horrible. Most people use ribbon and bows and beautiful gift tags. I use a sharpie. My parents have done it since I was little, and it just rubbed off on me. I can't imagine labeling gifts any other way. Confession #2: Yesterday I threw away all the Christmas candy and the homemade gingerbread houses that the kids made. I didn't want the candy temptation around me anymore because I've put on a few pounds (8 actually) this season and my clothes … [Read more...]
