My trip to Magnolia Market at The Silos

I am finally home from our road trip to Austin, Texas! We are originally from Austin, so we go back occasionally to see family and friends. During this trip back "home" I finally made the trek to Waco to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos. Yes, it was amazing. No, I didn't meet Chip and Joanna. I went with my sister and one of my besties, Beth. She used to blog at Free Stylin' so if you've been reading House of Hepworths for a long time, you might remember her. Here's my sister Lindsey and me: And here's Beth and me: You can see the silos for several blocks as you pull … [Read more...]

Our friends PRANKED our house while we were on vacation || best prank ever!

We were recently pranked so good by some of our friends that I am still laughing about it. Seriously, this is the prank to end all pranks. We have some pretty awesome friends. Our family went on a quick getaway to San Francisco a few weeks ago and when we got home at almost 1am we walked into this: I'm sure you are thinking, "What in the heck am I looking at? What on earth is that?" Let me start from the beginning... Our son is in Percussion at high school. He is part of an Indoor Drumline. That's him on the far left with a tan beanie on. … [Read more...]

Party decorating on a small budget || dollar store ideas

Our family recently flew from Denver to Dallas to see our nephew graduate from High School. He was born a month after Ben and I got married. I'm still trying to figure out how he's old enough to graduate?! There was a huge party planned for our nephew and a bunch of his graduating friends to help celebrate the occasion. The party was so cute. Each graduating senior had a table set up just for them, to show them off and share all their accomplishments and hobbies. (There were 11 tables total I believe; and was held in a local church.) My sister-in-law tasked me with decorating the table for … [Read more...]

2013 recap – TV segment, AP articles, favorite projects

Hi my friends! Do you remember me? I haven't blogged in several weeks (a first for me!) and I'll admit, it's a little weird to sit down after a few weeks off and write a post. I feel so rusty. I decided to just enjoy the entire season with my family and not stress over getting posts up (a first in 4 years). It was refreshing. First order of business... I am on TV today! Yup, I braved my biggest fear and filmed a short segment on the local Austin Time Warner Cable News for a segment called House Proud. The 2 minute segment is about clearing out your clutter and having a garage sale. You can … [Read more...]

This holiday season is already off to a rough start, but I love it anyway

When I think of the Holidays and Christmastime I picture myself draped in an apron, baking treats a la The Cleavers and crafting up seasonal decorations to my heart's content. Then I wake up. I am too busy to sit around crafting and baking all day, especially over the holidays. I can assure you, my home will NOT be magazine worthy or decorated to the hilt this season. Heck, I couldn't even get it together enough to blog about decorating for Halloween or Thanksgiving (I put out a few decorations on top of the piano for Halloween, and completely bypassed any decorating for Thanksgiving … [Read more...]

Move over piano, there’s a new instrument in town.

Monday the 14th (of January) was my son's 11th birthday. I am still in total denial that my adorable little toddler is now 11. He starts 6th grade next year and will get to pick an elective, which he has decided will be Band. He really wants to follow in his daddy's footsteps and be in the marching band in high school (I was in choir). Right now he plays the piano, but his dream is to play the drums and be a part of the drumline in the marching band. You can't really be in the drumline unless you know how to play the drums, so we bought him a drum kit for his birthday. We browsed … [Read more...]

Confessions of Christmas 2012

Once again, Christmas is almost here, and I have done a terrible job creating that magical environment that my children will look back on fondly. Oh well. I guess I'll never have that picture-perfect Pinterest house and Pinterest family. As a blogger who thoroughly enjoys keeping it as real as possible (in an attempt to prove that not all bloggers have a perfect life), here are a few Christmas confessions. Confession #1: I used double-sided tape to hang all our holiday cards... on the side of a kitchen cabinet and the wall. I used my mini nutcrackers as Christmas Tree … [Read more...]
