Easy DIY matching M&M costumes

For Halloween this year my daughter and her friend want to be "matching cute M&M girls". They had it all worked out in their minds, all I had to do was take them to the costume store to buy some accessories and then make M&M shirts using my Silhouette Cameo. I think they turned out pretty darn cute if you ask me! If you'd like to recreate this costume, here are the accessories: Hair bow, fish net gloves, tulle tutu, t-shirt. They paired the entire outfit with some black leggings. To make the shirts I dusted off my Silhouette Cameo, found the M&M logo on google, … [Read more...]

2 hacks: Ikea Bygel rails as curtain rods & bed sheets into curtains

I can finally check another item off my should-have-done-this-a-year-ago to-do list. My son's curtains have been sitting in his closet since we moved in almost 2 years ago. Why has it taken me so long to hang them? Because I am the Master Procrastinator. But they are hung and looking fly if I do say so myself. I hung them the same way I hung them in our previous house - using two Bygel Rails from good ol' Ikea. They come in two sizes. For the curtains I purchased the shorter ones. These rails are made for the kitchen to hold accessories on. Ikea also suggests using them as a … [Read more...]

Two hacks in one post (curtains for my boy’s room)

Hiah my friends! I have been doing a little bit of tweaking in my son's room this past week and am very excited to show you! His poor room has been virtually neglected the past almost-3-years that we've lived here. Thank goodness he is a typical boy who could care less what his room looks like. As long as he has his legos and DS, he is a happy camper. Okay, so his room started like this: First off, I ditched the shelf below his window almost immediately. It's now on the other side of the room. And just for a refresher, here's the post I wrote about all his bedding. I'll just go … [Read more...]

How to replace TOMS (or any shoes) insoles

Well hey my friends! I hope you all had a fantabulous extended weekend. My daughter is obsessed with shoes (who isn't, am I right?!). She has been rockin' a pair of blue glitter TOMS for half a year now, and they have definitely seen better days. The shoes themselves are still in wearable condition, but the leather insoles? Um, no. Not only are they crunchy and disgusting, they S-T-I-N-K to high heaven. Leather and sweaty feet make for some disgusting aroma. Here she is wearing her TOMS last summer. TOMS are definitely not on the Wal-mart-cheap end, so I want her to be … [Read more...]

Adding trim to ikea drona boxes for the expedit {girl room progress}

Are you sick of hearing me drone on and on about my daughter's room? I hope not because I've still got loads of little projects to complete before I call this room done. Check out today's project: I found these cool Drona boxes at ikea that fit in her expedit perfectly. The best part? They are only $5. Oh, and they come in hot pink! Which is pretty awesome if you ask me. (They also come in black and a few other colors.) The boxes are fabric and have what I assume is heavy cardboard inside to create the box. They are great as-is, but you know me, I can't leave … [Read more...]

Polkadot pom-pom curtains tutorial

I am so excited to show you my newest project!!! My daughter's room has S-L-O-W-L-Y been getting a royal makeover. You can see all the updates here. This week I finally got around to making and hanging some new curtains for her. And I am so stinkin' thrilled about how they turned out! I'm calling them the Polkadot Pom-Pom Curtains. (...With Ribbon Ties made the title way too long.) These fun bright curtains have a little of everything. Ric-Rac, pom-poms, ribbon, & polkadots! ** All items used will be listed with links at the bottom of this post. ** I don't … [Read more...]

How to layer a bed + a full source list {Bedding Week}

Welcome to another installment of... Today I'm going to share some quick tips about bedding. Let's start with making a bed. I'm sure there are like 20 billion ways to layer a bed. This is just how *I* do it. First I start off with my gear: I bought sheets from Wal-Mart for both my kids' beds. I altered my daughter's to look like ones at PBTeen. I also bought some of these vinyl mattress covers. These are an inexpensive way to protect your mattress from accidents (bed wetting and barfing included). Each kid also has a mattress pad on their bed for more … [Read more...]
