Organizing an under-sink bathroom disaster

Today I have a quick and easy tip for organizing the cavernous hole under the bathroom sink. Our guest bathroom tends to be a catch-all for crap under the sink, and with it being a huge hole, it doesn't leave much room for organization. Here's what it looked like before. Yikes. I'm sorry for that. I'm sure you now need some eye bleach. I know, huge mess! Before I tackled the cabinet, I measured how wide the opening was and ran to Target for some type of drawer to hold everything. Here's what I came home with. When I got home I pulled everything out of the cabinet. Organizing … [Read more...]

Party decorating on a small budget || dollar store ideas

Our family recently flew from Denver to Dallas to see our nephew graduate from High School. He was born a month after Ben and I got married. I'm still trying to figure out how he's old enough to graduate?! There was a huge party planned for our nephew and a bunch of his graduating friends to help celebrate the occasion. The party was so cute. Each graduating senior had a table set up just for them, to show them off and share all their accomplishments and hobbies. (There were 11 tables total I believe; and was held in a local church.) My sister-in-law tasked me with decorating the table for … [Read more...]

I’m calling the guest bathroom DONE. (for now, anyway)

I think it's a first in HoH blogging history, but today I'm officially calling the Guest Bathroom... D-O-N-E. Well, that is until I'm in the mood to swap out the faucet and add moulding around the window. (What's that phrase?... "A woman's work is never done?" This might apply here.) Everyone likes a good old fashioned before and after reveal, so let's start with the hideous 'before' picture. Having a super ugly 'before' photo makes the 'after' that much better. That's why I love that the previous owners of this house had such horrible taste in paint colors. It makes the … [Read more...]

Recreating model home decor {decorative moss rocks}

One of my favorite things to do is browse through model homes. They are chock full of decorating ideas that are usually very appealing to most styles. I have learned so many little tips and tricks about decorating and styling a home simply by walking through model homes and taking lots of photos. In a recent model home crashing I saw the simplest decor that had a big impact. I just had to recreate it the second I got back home. Can you believe it's as simple as a bowl full of faux moss rocks? I saw this simple wooden bowl filled with basic fake moss rocks and just knew it … [Read more...]

$2 outdoor Holiday wreaths {tutorial}

I've got these great windows in front of my house that are just screaming for wreaths with big red bows. Since I needed 4 wreaths (3 windows and the front door) I didn't want to spend a fortune so I headed to my home-away-from-home; the Dollar Tree. For $9 I outfitted all three windows, plus a wreath on the door and a garland swag. It was so cheap and easy! (Please don't look too closely at our undecorated porch and lack of shrubs. Trust me, it drives me batty.) Here's how you can make $2 wreaths for the front of your house too! First off, the gear: I bought 5 … [Read more...]

Quest for cuter glitter {presentation is everything, right?}

When I shared my office filp-flop with you a few weeks ago, I showed off my cute glitter collection and storage basket. Truth be told, I don't really use glitter all that often, but I do love looking at baskets of pretty glitter. :) Well, there was one two things that stuck out like a big ol' fat sore thumb; those honkin' big containers of sparkly white glitter. I knew on my eternal quest for absolute cuteness that I could do so much better than those big eye sores. And a quick trip to my local Dollar Tree proved just the solution. The dollar store has these fun big sugar … [Read more...]

Make cheap Dollar Store Halloween Decor

There's still a good two weeks before Halloween, so if you haven't decorated yet, YOU STILL HAVE TIME! It seems like I'm always strapped for cash (who isn't?!) and I really hate spending loads of money on holiday decor that you use for only 3-4 weeks. So I did what I do best; I headed to the dollar store (Dollar Tree) and loaded up. I spent about $10 and ended up with an entire yard and mantle full of Halloween decor. I purchased the products above plus some spider webbing and a bag of moss. If you want to decorate for Halloween on the cheap real quick, head over to the … [Read more...]
