Organizing a teenager bedroom, plus a huge broken mistake!

Guess what! My daughter is officially a teenager now! No more tweening for her. Thirteen will be a good year. It is weird though that I now have two teenagers and zero tweens, kids, toddlers, or babies. So anyway, I've been asking this teen of mine to please clean her room for months now. Obviously cleaning her room is above her pay-grade. Or maybe it's her age? Whatever her reason, she just could not get her s**t together enough to get the room clean. You know, typical teen girl messes - clothes everywhere (clean and dirty mixed together all over the place), trash that just could … [Read more...]

A few little updates to my daughter’s room

Well hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. I appreciate all your sweet comments and support from my previous post about digging out of debt and following Dave Ramsey's financial plan. I've been trying to tie up little loose ends around the house and this weekend I tackled a project I've been meaning to do for probably a year. It took me a total of about 10 minutes. I don't know why I put these little things off for so long! Both quick projects were in my daughter's room. I've been trying to just finish up this room but it's all the little finishing touches that I really … [Read more...]

Cardboard Houndstooth Taxidermy Unicorn Head

Well hey, hey, HEY! my friends! How the heck are ya? I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and Mother's Day! Last weekend I worked on a little craft project for my daughter's room. It's a little quirky and random, so if it isn't your thang, I totally understand. I like weird and quirky though so I'm pretty stoked about this conversation starter. Like the fact that they are the same exact bed? I know, I know. I just couldn't help myself. I loved the bed so much I just couldn't find a more perfect bed for either kid, so they both got the same bed. Fortunately they came in different colors! Okay, … [Read more...]

New Expedit shelving in K’s room

Well hey there! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. We've been busy around here just trying to get this place organized once and for all! Maybe by the end of 2012 I'll feel like everything is in it's place. Last week I showed you my 7 year old daughters room makeover progress. I had just hung some floating shelves (IKEA Lack shelves) above a little sofa table. Eventually this area will be for all her jewelry, (play) makeup, nick-knacks, and desk area. Unfortunately, all this switching around in her room has left quite a huge mess of toys on her floor. The … [Read more...]
