How to lay a paver walkway

(I was one of the bloggers selected by True Value to work on the DIY Squad. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program as well as writing about my experience. I have also been compensated for the materials needed for my DIY project. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.) I just completed a project in our backyard that I've wanted to do since we moved in over a year ago. To get from the deck to the water hose requires walking through dirt and mud. Build a tire swing!

I'm here today to show you how to make a fun and easy project that your kids (and you!) will enjoy all summer long... a tire swing! Oh how naive we were! We started by digging up those three … [Read more...]

Fresh air and relaxation on the back deck

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Ours was busy and HOT. I think we've broken almost every heat record in Texas this summer so far. I wish Austin would have crisp cool evenings, but nope. We are sweating even at midnight. Anyhoo, let's get down to business. :) We have a smallish deck in our backyard. Our back door steps out almost a full floor off the ground because of the way our yard slopes, so we have this little landing deck to catch us. Our plan is to eventually drop the deck lower and make it much larger. Decks are not cheap though, so this has to go on our … [Read more...]
