Hookin Up with HoH #118

I know I’ve been living under a rock for the past year, but I finally sat down yesterday and watched Downton Abbey. Am I the last person on the planet to be talking about this?

I don’t know how I feel about the show. I’ve only seen two episodes so far. Both had me a little bored and checking to see how much time was left, yet when they were over I found myself thinking about the show and looking forward for another episode. Kinda like Napoleon Dynamite I guess. Pretty much the lamest movie of all time, yet I can’t seem to stop quoting it and watching it over and over. (Yes, I just compared Downtown Abbey with Napoleon Dynamite. This is why I’m not Ebert.)

Hopefully the show will get better. And hopefully my ears will adjust to their thick accents. I can’t understand half of what is being said. I’m sure the show is quite lovely. I am just not cultured and sophisticated to get it. So, do you love the show? Does it get better? Even if it doesn’t, I’m still likely to watch it anyway.

** So, are you new here? I throw the Hookin’ Up with HoH Party every week to give all of you a chance to find other awesome blogs to read. Below you will find several hundred mini links to other people’s blog posts. Have fun browsing through the links in search of new ideas. Also, if you are a blogger, please feel free to add your own links to the list!

Blissful Blooms gave her laundry room a cheerful makeover.

Love, Pomegranate House made some custom kitchen canisters WITHOUT a vinyl cutter. Very cool project. Everyone should read it.

I am seriously drooling over this custom crown moulding jig Remodelando la Casa made. I haven’t done crown yet because I’m skeered of it. I need to make one of these bad boyz.

I am digging this amazing pallet wood art from {Blooming Homestead}.

AliLilly dressed up a basic candle with some indian corn for a festive Fall centerpiece.

Oh-meee-goodness, I am dying over this amazing kitchen makeover from Cottage4c. LOVE the cabinet color.

Two Twenty One made some ORANGE (holla!) oreo truffles. What’s better than an oreo truffle? Not much, except maybe an orange oreo truffle. Yummm!

Check out this AMAZING step-by-step tutorial for making your own floating shelves from Desert Domicile. Seriously, it’s the best floating shelves tut I’ve seen to date. So go pin it!

Six Sisters’ Stuff made over a lamp and shade and couldn’t have picked a more fun color combo.

I just really love the elegant simplicity of this fall decor from Practically Functional. Who knew such a simple project would look so stunning? I must go paint everything I own gold now.

Love, Pomegranate House made a delicious looking pumpkin roll. I love pumpkin and I’m sure this recipe does not disappoint.

The Space Between jazzed up some super cheap and boring tea lights by just adding glitter around them. Seriously so freaking smart. Everything looks better with a little bling.

Thanks so much for hosting this awesome party! Those candy cane truffles look amazing, and I love that sign. I’ve linked up my Easy Cream Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy to the food board.

I hope you have a great weekend!

I love Downton Abbey! I can’t do anything when I watch it because I have to concentrate on their accents. One time I rewound a part I couldn’t understand five times. I studied their lips and everything. I got nothin’. Season 1 was really good– better than season 2, IMO. It gets better, trust me. Thanks for including my orange oreo truffles in your features! Longhorn Vader should pass them out at the next game! 😉

Okay, I just linked my cheese souffle in the wrong category. There isn’t a red X. Help. My apologies for not being able to fully function.
As for Napoleon Dynamite, I loved that movie. One of my friends has begged and begged me to watch Downton Abbey, and I refused because I am a crappy friend. It just looks so boring. Maybe I should reconsider.

I agree with you on Downton Abbey, plus I can hardly say it correctly. For a good year I thought it was Downtown Abbey…didn’t pay attention to the spelling apparently! I cannot do anything else while I watch it because I have to concentrate…definitely not a show to have on in the background while blogging, that’s for sure!

I just linked up my Wood & Wine Cork Pumpkin and my Ruffled Burlap Wreath…hope you like them! I just love your party…I always find such great inspiration here. I’m hoping to get my husband on board with installing some floating shelves like your feature. We’ve wanted to do exactly that for over a year and just keep putting it off! It’s time!!

Downton Abbey does get better. In fact my hubby kinda (alot) whined when I watched the second season online at PBS, and then months later got into it himself (after watching a comedy show make fun it- he needed to get the joke) Now he is whining that the third season does not come out until January here! This article makes me love the actor that plays Lord Grantham that much more:http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/culture/7736967/Downton-star-makes-surprise-Palmy-visit. Nothing that cool ever happened when I went to that school!

We like Downton Abbey at our house. In some ways it does get better but in other ways it is too predictable. My older children like it too (12 and up). We watch it on websites like graboid or videobull instead of waiting until it airs in the States. We can catch the current season now airing in Great Britain on Sunday nights just moments after it airs.
