The new carpet and how we chose it

After I sprayed all the baseboards we had some carpet guys install our new carpet we had previously ordered. It was a long day but the results were worth it. Pretty much all the carpet in the house looked like this: Old, stretched out, worn out, and threadbare. I can move into a house that needs lots of love and then DIY it to my liking while living there, but moving in on the old carpet was a deal-breaker for me. First off, I don't want to move into a house with gross carpet. Secondly, it would have been ten times harder to replace the carpet once our stuff was moved in. The … [Read more...]

Hookin Up with HoH #149

Thanks so much for all the virtual hugs you sent my friends Jay and Scott after losing their 8 year old son Max to brain cancer yesterday. It warms my heart to see them receiving so much love and support. For those in the Austin area who wish to attend, they have posted the funeral service info on their Grow Taller For Idiots Team Max facebook page. I've also added it to the bottom of my tribute post about Max. ** So, are you new here? Goodbye little Jedi Max

Almost three weeks ago I shared my friend's son Max with all of you. He has been battling brain cancer for a year. He fought a long hard fight. He never gave up. He passed away yesterday. Many of you reached out and sent post cards to Max when his "last wish" trip to Paris was canceled last month. Thank you. I know that Jay and Scott appreciate every last card and note sent to Max. It certainly brightened the last few weeks of Max's life. He passed away knowing that the entire world loved him. Please take a moment to post a quick note and virtual hugs to the … [Read more...]

The scare floor will be… painted?

Sorry, I just could not resist using one of my all time favorite kid movie quotes. Any guesses where it's from? Monsters, Inc. Such a great movie. Here's the actual quote plus a bunch more that are equally as awesome. Before we moved into the new house we wanted to replace all the carpet. If we were going to rip up all the carpet it seemed like as good a time as any to paint all the baseboards and trim in each room with a fresh coat of white paint. The baseboards were dingy and dirty. Also, it looked as if the original trim color was an almond color but the previous owners had made an … [Read more...]

The final before & afters of the old house

Well folks, it's the end of an era. The old house will officially belong to someone else by Thursday. We had a good run, this house and me. I have the final photos of the old house that were taken last month for the MLS listing. I thought it would be fun to compare them to the "before" photos from three years ago when we bought the house. It's come a long way baby. I am so pleased to see how much nicer the home is now. But honestly, I just can't wait to start rolling some paint on the walls of the new house. :) I've got a few more tutorials of the old house to share with you guys as soon … [Read more...]
