Camping for Mother’s Day; plus my new gift

Over Mother’s Day weekend we went camping with family; my parents, 10 year old sister, two grown sisters and their boyfriend/husband, twin 8 year old nieces, and our two kids.

I am terrible at documenting and photographing anything unrelated to home decor, so of course (!!) I didn’t take any photos of the camping trip. D’oh!

On Saturday Ben surprised everyone with a pontoon boat rental all day! We had such a great time. Here are a few pics of us on the lake.

This is me with my 10 year old sister, Rachael.

Ben let the 5 kids take turns driving. It was the highlight of all of their day (even more so than tubing!). This is Ben and our son, Travis.

We got home from camping at about 1pm on Sunday afternoon. I immediately showered and took a nap. Camping and I don’t mix well, so I was just a little overwhelmed and worn out from kicking it in the dirt for two days.

While I was sleeping Ben and the kids made me a fun Mother’s Day banner!

In addition to the banner and several adorable hand-made cards, they bought me the best present ever!

A jig saw! lol

We both thought it was quite hilarious that for Mother’s Day I’d want a new tool. Most moms want a pedicure, or a new outfit, or jewelry, or even an appliance. But I was so excited to get a tool!

I can’t wait to think up some projects around here so I can try out the new jig saw.

I told Ben for Father’s Day I was going to get him a vacuum. He can clean while I build stuff. bawahahaha.

I hope each of you had a wonderful weekend!

A post all about moulding is on its way. Promise.

Best gift ever! My husband and I joke about my gift suggestions too, I really wanted an orbital sander this year…my birthdays in a couple weeks though, let’s hope he got the hint. 😉

My mother once asked for a chainsaw for Mother’s Day. She got it too.

It sounds like you had a great Mother’s Day! Where did you go camping? I’m always looking for good suggestions that are driving distance from DFW. And oh the projects you can do with that saw…can’t wait to see them!

P.S. I once got a toilet for my birthday 🙂

I got a cordless drill for Christmas several years ago and it was my favorite gift of the year!

Awesome gift! You remind me of my mom. She doesn’t do pampering gifts. She LOVES tools.

I so admire you tool ladies. My husband is always worried that I will cut some part of my body off because I am a bit of a klutz. He insists on using all the power tools. I do use a drill though. Your weekend looked wonderful!

We are such silly girls, asking for tools. I got me a new sander for Mother’s Day. My family thought I was crazy to ask for a tool! I’m all about a pedicure, but I just get those for myself. There’s just something sexy about a man buying his sweetheart power tools!

One of these days I will get over my fear of power tools. I really want to but I’m terrified of what any of these could do to fingers. I stick to the drill and dremel 🙂

    A jigsaw……you lucky duck!

I told hubs about the gift you received and that I was envious. He said, “whoa wait a minute, I thought you told me a long time ago that appliances are not gifts and never give you one.”
I said, “ok let me clarify that statement, kitchen and cleaning appliances are not gifts, tools are a totally different category!”
