Cheap Cloche update for Spring; bringing in the lemons!

clochelemons4

A little pop of yellow for Spring!

One of my most popular posts at HoH is my Cheese Dome Cloche.

But after over a year of admiring my little green mini apples, I wanted something brighter and lighter and more Springy.

I’ve had my eye on mini plastic lemons for months now, but for FIVE bucks a box, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy them.

Last week at HobLob I found these little mini lemons on stems for .80ยข a bag! Score, right?! A grand total of $2.40 instead of $5. I’d say more than 50% cheaper is a pretty good score.

Obviously the stems are a problem though.

I went to my garage and got a pair of pliers that has a little cutter on it and just snipped off each wire. I’m sure a pair of scissors would have worked just as well too.

Then I just filled up my cloche with my new lemons. Now my kitchen is ready for Spring!

I also think the lemons stand out more against the black base than the apples. My my cloche “pops”.

Before & After:

I love it when something so inexpensive makes such a huge difference!

Plus, now it totally matches my Rodney White Lemonade canvas in my kitchen!

See my lemonade print in the background?

{Don’t worry, an updated kitchen post is on it’s way…}

Are you ready for Spring? I’m so not! My lemons are the only Spring decorating I’ve done so far. Bad Allison! I haven’t even decorated my mantle for spring yet. It’s shameful.

    I also wish we had Hobby Lobby here! It looks pretty & fresh.

    I don’t decorate for spring at all. I keep feeling like I should do SOMETHING, though…?
